Ford probe 1997 V6 2.5 - Ford Probe 1997 V6 2.5 immobiliser problem - susieharlow

I recently bought a Ford Probe 1997 2.5 V6. it went fine for the first three months, then suddenly wouldn't start. AA took it to a local garage and it appeared that the distributor was the problem. Having located a distributor and replaced it, the car started but after a short while the immobiliser kicked in and the car would not go. It seems this is an inherent problem with the car. We then contacted the breakers who provided the distributor and they provided us with the original immobiliser and key and the barrel lock. This was fitted and also did not work. We are now stumped. It was a TEMIC immobiliser. Can you help?

This may not be an immobiliser fault.Non start can be caused by a faulty crankshaft /engine rpm sensor or connector problem.Located just below the coolant filler cap on the engine,is a 3 -pin connector (usually grey or black)take it apart and clean the connector pins.Worth a try.hth

Check the fuel inertia cutoff switch by removing the panels in the boot and bypassing it.
