ASTRA 2008 SXI - ASTRA MARK 5 INDICATORS - Marktwo

Hello there

I drove my parents Astra some months ago and was completely blown away with how far cars have come along, However I found the indicators very annoying as it was very easy to start indicating right when you have cancelled left, I have also noticed other Astra drivers doing the same, is this something that will be fixed or do you live with it, Also does this car have a timming belt or chain, I read somehwere that all Mark 5 Astras will be chain driven. Regards.

It's most annoying and mine has a belt on the 1.6 but mine is 2006 reg56..........

You will never get used to it but yes you can tap it but if you drive other cars and come back to this it's ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!

The indicator funtion is a feature on the Astra Mk5. However, Vauxhall listened to Astra drivers feedback and decided to change this feature for the Astra Mk6 as follows :

If the lever is moved past the resistance point, the turn signal is switched on constantly. When the steering wheel moves back, the turn signal is automatically deactivated.
For three flashes, e.g. when changing lanes, press the lever until resistance is felt and then release. Having a trailer connected, turn signal flashes for six times when pressing the lever until resistance and then release.

If you lightly tap the indicator stalk in the same direction that you're indicating (ie, to make it only flash 3 times) that will cancel it without the risk of putting the opposite side on.

Simples!

Re: cambelt or camchain, that would depend on the engine - which the OP failed to mention.
