VW Golf - Crash repair and awkard insurance company.... - golfgtdude

My car has recently been involved in a majorish accident. After an inspection the repairer has said that 3 of the 4 tyres needed replacing.

Although that's good that I get new tyres I am left with one which is part worn, at 4mil.

I asked the repairer that surely I'd need four for handling reasons but he said that'll never wash with the insurance company and would only end up asking me to buy the 4th if I insisted it was needed.

Is this correct and do I have any powered to push them for the 4th tyre to be replaced. Seems totally unfair that I'm put in this situation due to some other persons mistake creatig all this agro.

I have always replaced 4 tyres when they come up for renewal and this leaves me having to change one on its own in future leaving me with an inbalance.

Any thoughts?

Insurance companies will only repair what is necessary if the tyre hasn't been damaged because of the accident then I doubt whether they will replace it. I wouldn't have thought it would be much of handling issue anyway.

Cheek, the insurance company could technically charge you the difference between your old 4mm treaded tyres and new tyres for "betterment". I would be happy that I got 3 brand new tyres.

Buy a new one to match up the three provided by the insurance company.I'd just glad that the insurance company were sorting things out.
