I've been very impressed by Michelin Latitudes on the CRV.

Stiff sidewalls and a tread pattern that works brilliantly in dry, wet and snow.

Approx £100 a corner from Costco but I got them in a 4 for 3 deal - 30k miles later still 4-4.5mm tread left all round.

I think HJ has recommended Pirelli Scorpions...

The Michelin Latitudes work very well on a road focused 4x4. I also have them on a CR-V and they are good at speed and did a pretty good job in the snow this winter. Seem to be lasting 50% longer than the original factory fit B F Goodrich tyres. Costco seem to do the best deals on Michelins - good professional service at the Watford warehouse from qualified fitters, the only problem is that you usually have to wait a while (an hour or two) for fitting.

Buy the best you can afford not the cheapest as it pays for it's self in the long run.

Blackcircle tyres have a fitting service and mytyres.co.uk aswell as all the fast fit places.

Forgot to mention that Costco prices are all inclusive and include nitrogen inflation.

Whats wrong with the original dunlop? never found them wanting, you have choices, tyres that give good grip but a shorter life, or the opposite.

The dunlops are a very good compromise. £170 all for two last year.

Does it not depend on the use you are putting your xtrail to... off road, on road/motorway and a mixture of both would all give you three different answers!
