02 1.6 Engine intermittently cuts out - lou29.9.88

Just recently an intermittent fault has developed with my car. When stopping at lights or junctions the engine just cuts out (this is not due to stalling). It may do it a few times on a 10 mile journey or not at all. It doesn't matter if the engines hot or cold. When it happens it starts straight away with the key. It is not missing at all through the range of driving speeds and the rev counter doesn't vary. I never experience loss of power when driving, Help! Confused!

I also should have mentioned that when the engine cut out the other day, "engine immobilizer failure" came up on the dash!!! Please help, if you can!!!
