please read the thread on the aformentioned forum and give your honest views, im really confused.
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,
As the car is 10 years old it qualifies for the scrappage scheme. As it has a current mot you can trade it against a new one.

Are you sure it qualifies for scrappage, i thought it was just outside?
|
The OP lists it as a 2000 m/y car. 2010 - 2000 = 10 . I think that makes it ten years old?
Cars 10 years and older are eligible for scrappage scheme.......

I'm sure one of the pics had W reg on the number plate. If so, then that'll be 1 March to 31 July 2000, in which case it doesn't yet qualify for the scrappage scheme.

Doesnt look too bad and the bumper crash bar has taken most of the hit.
I assume no airbags off so a straight forward easy repair.
Those bottom arms on polos bend easy if they get hit so not the end of the world.
An independant bodyshop should sort that for a £1000 fixed painted and done, however they are all busy at the moment so you will have to wait your turn.
Breaking cars is messy selling bits off them so think carefully before you go this route.
Sold complete but damaged as it is you should realise £500 .

I know for a fact the steering rack is gone and it needs a new shocker. Do i take the risk that after this, and of course steering/wheel re-alignment, that it will be ok?
|
OH
if rack gone then its scrap at this age :-(
|
with the rack its only the drum stick, so ive been told.

Anyone want to buy 6n2 polo gti? lol

Just an update,
i think i can mend the wheel for around £300, the body work and headlight is going to be the problem.
The bumper and slam panel are going to set me back about £450 and the headlight is around £150, then of course, there is the cost of fitting them. So all in i reckon it will cost £1200 or so for the body work.
The grand total being around £1500.
Worth it or not?
|
I wouldn`t put that into a ten year old banger - there could be hidden damage.
|
i am inclined to agree, i just dont know what lies further back. Plus its hard to get in reverse after the prang, mechanically the gearbox is sound (replaced only 2 months ago).

you must have been quoted by vw dealer for those prices
look here instead
they will even deliver to your house if you pay a little more
or
the bodyshop you get the work done at will get a nice discount off these prices

the parts i need are not there, good find though.
My prices are worked out on qoutes given by someone breaking a gti. slam panel was vw dealer and is £183.
|
Rang them and they do stock the bumper and bonnet.
How much would a spray of these cost?

It requires around £500-£600 of parts, so id probably settle for around £1500.
|
What about breaking, have you decided what you want to do with it?
I need an entire engine, ecu and loom if you are up for breaking it.
cheers.

If you want to break it, advertise it on ebay, or at least advertise one wheelnut and mention that all other parts are available.
It will take a few weeks and you'll have to dispose of the shell at the end.
