Specification stickers on screens of used cars - L'escargot
Why do dealers put stickers on the windscreen of used cars saying that they're diesels, but don't put anything on the screens of petrol cars?

Same with automatics, but not manuals

I don't think there's anything odd about this. We all know that the most common combination is still petrol and manual, so diesel and auto are different features whcih people might be specifically looking for. Why would dealers spend money on petrol and manual stickers when it is know that they are assumed?

Similarly, aircon. Often see this but I'd be amazed to see a sticker saying "Standard Ventilation".

Very true, or so it appears.

Autotrader have 333,413 cars for sale today. Of that, there's 178,673 petrol manuals, 83,013 diesel manuals, 41,569 petrol autos and 25, 564 diesel autos.

Not what I expected, as it seems every man and his dog buys diesel manuals these days. Must be lots of older petrol manuals still floating about.

you can put an automatic sticker in a car window but if the price fits the customers pocket they dont see it and will sit in the car,you then point out ,did they want an auto? and sometimes they jump out like they been bit by a scorpion
same with diesel most people, i say most ,just assume that all cars are still petrol till its pointed out to them its not
