The number you've given isn't the serial number of the radio, I'm afraid. The correct serial number will be in the form of a"V" or an"M" followed by a six digit number, like:

M123456

V123456

Anything else isn't the serial number, I'm afraid.

The display on the radio should scroll through a lot of different numbers, including giving you the serial number of the radio. Sometimes it's buttons 2 and 5.

If you obtain some radio removal tools and just pull the radio out of the dash slightly then you can read the serial number from the sticky label.

Please note that books get changed and so do radios! You have to get the serial number either by pushing two buttons or from the sticky label.

The serial number is found on a white label that's stuck onto the casing of the radio. In order to read this you will need to pull the radio out from the dashboard a couple of inches. You don't need to completely remove the radio or disconnect it. You will need a set of radio removal tools, have a look on Ebay but be aware, there are a couple of different types.

Alternatively, you can try pushing buttons 1 and 6 together as you switch the radio on. You should see train of numbers displayed, one of which should be your radio serial number. Sometimes buttons 2 and 6 (or 2 and5) works. If the SN begins with an "M" you can use the following link to obtain your code:

However, should you find your serial number begins with a "V" then the code can only be obtained from a Ford Main Dealer, or there are people on Ebay who claim they can do them for a fee.

1504 is the correct code for the given serial number.

Did you remember to press Button 5 after putting in the code in order to enter it?

Failing that, how did you obtain the serial number? If the 1504 code doesn't work then the serial number must be wrong.

Edit..............Just noticed you obtained the code from the audio book. In that case either it's not the book which originally came with the car or, at some time in the car's life, someone has changed the radio.

Just to update you, Galaxy. Bought a set of removal tools from Halfords and you were right. The serial no. is different, so someone has changed the radio somewhere along the line. Anyway used the purple people decoding site to get the new code and it worked, so thanks very much for all your help !! It was getting very boring in the car with no radio !!
