Greetings - first time here so please be nice!
I've been looking at getting a car as I'm moving way up North and will be driving back to London at weekends, so plan on getting something fairly big so it'll be quite comfortable, but I don't have a lot of dosh to splash.
My plan was to get a Vectra diesel, but I've seen a Vauxhall Signum online (2005 1.9CDTI 150, 106k miles, £3,600) and am reasonably interested. My OH also seems quite keen on it... however the website (Autoquake) shows the service history and I'm a litte bit concerned.
Seems to have had a bit of damage and repairs for a noisy turbo. I just wanted some advice on whether these things are OK or I should walk away...? Thanks in advance

Personally I'd walk away. There's plenty of similar cars for the same money, even on AQ, and they come up often enough as ex lease cars and in far better shape.
I'm a bit perturbed by the dates and mileages, as it doesn't seem the result of any one incident.
26 June 08 Track Control Arm Bent,
but
6 Nov 2008 All wheel nuts sheared off.
Seems to have a hard time. But the addition of many new tyres (and new brakes) is expectant for the mileage and typical use no doubt.
I know AQ deliver on 7 day approval, but if you are set on this, try and get to look at it/drive it first.
As for this make of vauxhall in particular I can't comment as never driven one.

I too would look for another one. There's plenty around.
I suspect that car has led a very hard life indeed. On the plus side, a lot of mistreated components have already been replaced, but some of them have had long enough to be wrecked again...

I thought this was about some sponsored race, or similar!

The clutch problem is a problem with vauxhalls some cars seem to have a few, as for the other points i think a young lad has been behind the wheel and drives it like he's just stolen it as he won't pay for the repairs etc.!
At the mileage do expect some new parts & probably some replaced under warranty at least with that you get a full description of what has been replaced some garages might not give you that.
At 105k expect 3-4 sets of new tyres, replaced front and rear brakes, full service history, might have had the odd bump, may have a oil leak repaired etc.

Don't forget to inspect for rusty spoons

Wife was telling me the woes of her bosses car last night
she started on telling me how it keeps breaking down
has been losing oil out of many orifices as known to man
and he is sick of calling the 4th service to his place of work to get the thing going
she finished by telling me the final straw was he was sick to his high teeth of driving it home and lights flashed like a starship enterprise on his dashboard
i wont bore you with the fact i named the car in one to her
i can reveal he collects a brand new audi tomorrow with quatro fitted

Go on, Bellboy, tell us! I'd guess something French, unless you're responding to the thread and it was a Signum.
