If a buy a second hand one can I get a towbar successfully fitted
Can bus system wiring
the brochure says the elect prep for a towbar is "factory fit"

Yes, of course. The towbar part is straightforward, but the electrics are not. I doubt that the Octavia is pre-wired for towing (my Audi wasn't). To ensure that the towing electrics are fully compatible with your vehicle CAN bus systems, I think it is a good idea to specify that a vehicle-specific wiring kit is used, rather than a cheaper universal one. Depending on the age and features of the Octavia, this might allow the car to recognise when a trailer is coupled and activate the VAG Trailer Stability Program, dashboard display of trailer indicators etc. How much you're prepared to spend probaby depends on what you want to tow. If its a caravan, these features are more important than if its an old trailer down to the tip twice a year.
