Advice needed folks please.
Which Off road tyres should I put on the Jimny. Muddy fields and wet grass slopes in the main. No crazy off road stuff, just a shooting hack, but of course they must do the job. Would probably put them on a spare set of wheels for the winter. I will still be doing quite a bit of road work too and although they must work I don't want anything that will be worn out by the road in five minutes.
Thanks, Martin D

As long as you are avoiding deep mud, I'd go for Michelin Latitude Tour HP. They come in the normal size for a Jimny (205/70x15), are adequate for grass/mild offroading, and are pretty decent on tarmac.
Even on road tyres the Jimny is a rather impressive piece of kit.
Got them on our CRV and very impressed compared to the old BFGs.
Pricey (unless you're a Costco member) but wearing well - should manage 35-40k before a new set are required.
If you are plugging the bad stuff you should be looking at diff lockers but that's a whole new game...

I agree on the Michelins - I had them on the CRV last winter during the snowy week and they were very effective. Has to be Costco though - I think I paid about £400 for five when the periodic offer was on, otherwise it would have been nearer £500.

Always a difficult choice MD, you idealy want 2 sets, a set for the road and a set of deep track jobbied for the rough stuff.
I've always found that the heavy track grip tyres tend to be skittish on a wet road, so a crossover type tyre may be what your after, it'll be a bit of a trade off.
If the size Lygonos quoted is correct for your motor, Camskills have got Avon Rangers and Toyo Open Country at £56 and £55 each, and Cooper discoverers a bit dearer at £63.
If your really getting into some boggy stuff, then you may have no choice but to get proper full time off roadies, i found BFG A/T's good for most off roading, long lasting and tough, no punctures even when swmbo took out the steel railings..;), but they were quite unpredicable in the wet.

I paid £319.56 for 4 during a "20% off 4 tyres" promotion (215/65x16 HR) about 12mths ago.
The ones I got are extra-load and they really improved the feeling of rolling on roundabouts, and give impressive confidence on wet tarmac.
The Jimny is such a light car with wide tyres, it can get away with "soft-road" treads for any trail/field work.
I hear a lot of good reports on Vredsteins for their wet-condition manners: Camskill supply for about £65 a corner including delivery for a set of 4:

Bridgestone Duellers H/T's on there at the moment. Are these half and half so to speak??
Regards..........Martin.

Yes.
The Jimny's chassis is rather compromised on-road so I'd look for good wet tarmac ability as a priority. You're more likely to die on a wet B-road than chugging over a field.
Have you had any problems with the Duellers on light offroading ?

None, but it has been dry for a week or two now. 30 degree slope (upwards) a few days ago a breeze (See Now Wheels 4x4 farm thread). Crossing slopes, no sideways slipping and I was mega impressed, but I guess my luck will run out when I have an audience!!! and it is wet or moist.

Don't be too sure - the old Vitara (mark one) could do some decent offroading on road tyres - plenty of anecdotes of Jimnys and Vitaras pulling heavier "proper" 4x4s out of bog after sinking too deep.
