96 1.5 Can a cyl head from a tud3 fit on a tud5? - jim y
I have a 106 with a 1.5 tud5 diesel engine that the head gasket has gone on, i have the option of a running 1.4 tud3 diesel engine to swap in but if it is possible to use the 1.4 head on the 1.5 engine i would prefer to do that as i prefer the cast iron block engine.
What i don't want to do is split the runner to find if i need the head that i can't use it.
many thanks for any contributions on this matter.

My belief from the engine descriptionsThe 1.5 engine and 1.4 engine are not ineterchangeable due to power and gearing... and the cylinder heads are very different..

Better find a s/h 1.5 engine .. lots about..or new headgasket and head skim on the 1.5 would be even better...

(Radiator is probably gone as well...)

A head skim, new gaskets and cambelt will cost c £250 from a garage...

actually, yes it can, i have done just that on my 106 grass racer, blew the head and cam shaft on a hill climb, only spare i had was a 1.4, and it all worked out fine for me, as i believe the only real differences are the bore size on the 1.5, use the 1.5 head gasket and you should be fine
