96 1.4 ECU fault question - darz456
Hi iam the proud owner of a rover 414 ! The car let me down a few months ago and i traced the fault to the black/ violet wire on ecu not triggering the fuel pump relay to run . apparently this is a fairly common fault . I studied the wiring diagram i have and decided to earth out this wire permantly to save getting the ECU repaired. The car runs perfect and i have just done a 500 mile round trip on holiday to weymouth then on to London . I am a little worried though as sometimes i need to power the windows down or open sunroof so when i put ignition on with engine off the fuel pump is running .
I know this vehicle uses a constant return fuel system ( sends fuel up to rail then back to tank ) so i feel i should be safe to run pump with engine off but would like some opions from others on here especially member screwloose who seems clued up on these cars . cheers Darren
