03 1.9 shock absorbers - mistylady

I have just bought a motorhome built on the Fiat Ducato 1.9TD. The dealer has put it through an MOT which it failed, needs new shock absorbers. I was very surprised as this motorhome has only done 15000 miles. Is this unusual and should I be looking at the rest of the suspension very closely.
