I have a C5 which will shortly be needing new front tyres. Currently shod in michelin primacy 215-55-16,w-93. I doubt they will last 20,000. Just wonder if anyone has any recommendations for another brand. I have no problems with the wear rate( I was warned by dealer they would only last 20k). Just the price of michelins that puts me off. Also, would like them to be quiet. Thanks.

In my experience, Michelins normally last well, so 20k miles doesn't sound all that brilliant.
Maybe try some tyres by Hankook (they're part-owned by Michelin anyway). If they're 60% of the price, but last more than 12,000 miles, you're quids-in (and they're cheaper to replace again if they get irreparably damaged).

Just replaced the Michelins on the front of my C5 at 23,000 miles. The Michelins were going to cost £140 each so I went for Semperit "Speed-Life". Same size as yours; cost £96 each fitted. They are just fine. Done 800 miles in a week and they are nice and quiet.

I bought a pair of 206 55 16 V Premacy HP's from ATS last Saturday for £93.00 each all in.
They were on special offer around 20% off the usual price, hopefully the offer is still on.

Stick with the Michelins. I know they're expensive but they suit the car well.
My current C5 came with Dunlops on the front, chosen by the previous owner. They lasted less than 12000 miles.
With Dunlop tyres I used to see the traction control light flashing on almost every journey. Since I went back to Michelin, I see the light come on around once a month, which would imply that the Michelins have far better traction.
Sorry if that sounded too much like an advert.

Thank you for your replies. Probably stick with the Michelins, I'll just do a little more research.

I bought an 05 C5 1.6hdi about 18 months ago with 18000 miles on the clock, the first set of Michelin Primacy tyres were just about finished, indeed one o/s rear had already been replaced with a Federal Super Steel. So, I got another Federal for the N/S rear, swapped the new Primacy spare to front N/S and bought another Primacy for Front O/S to complete the set.
That set up has been fine for 20000 miles, just starting to get close to the 1.6mm wear indicators on the fronts now. At one stage I did try swapping with ehe Federals on the front...you wouldnt believe how noisy they were ...sounded like the wheel bearings were shot. Swapped trhem back, and everything fine again.
Have now bought (ready to fit) a cheap set of Nankang's (ebay £160 for 4!) once I have eaked out the final few miles from the current tyres.
Why else do you buy a C5..its for cheap motoring? Mine has so far been utterly reliable and returns nearly 50mpg. Its reasonably roomy, comfortable, and relaxed motorway cruiser. As a used buy (mine was £6000) its a steal...a lot of car for not very much money.
Lets see how I get on with the cheap Nankang's....I gather they last well (lets hope 20000 miles plus) but they lack grip in the wet!

Fitted 4x Pirelli P7s last month to my C5 2.2 estate,
opting for the reinforced XL extra load version.
So far so good.
They were on special at ATS at the time.
I avoided Michelin due to the excessive prices.
