Water collecting in Door ? - NooNoosdad
Don't know if anyone else has had a similar proiblem. Over the past several months or so I've noticed after heavy rain or if I've been to the Car Wash, a strange 'sloshing' noise can be heard when I'm on the move and either accelerating/deccelerating/changing course etc. It's really difficult to pin point the exact location but think it may be coming from the Nearside/front - possibly even the doors.
Could water have actually managed to get into the the doors some how ? - I have checked the usual things like the door/windows seals and they seem to be intact and working fine.
Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Try looking in the spare wheel well. Sound can travel oddly in a car. I had this happen on a newly aquired Escort years ago. Turned out the previous owner used to shift long things in it with the tailgate half open and rainwater had gone to the lowest point. If it is that, there will usually be a bung in the bottom of the well to release the water. Big question remains as to how it got there in the first place of course. In my case it never happened again as I chose to drive with the boot shut !

Good luck.

You could check that the drain holes in the door bottoms are clear, (a poke with a small screwdriver usually works), also the check the drains for the area under the base of the windscreen.

Probably find the drain holes behind the dash thats supposed to drain the scuttle panel are blocked up. Fairly common Renault (and other car) issue.

Don't suppose it can happen now, but a ve-e-ery long time ago I drove a Triumph 1300 (1972 I think). Somehow water got inside the offside sill, and used to slosh back and forth. Luckily there was a convenient grommet which I could remove, and drained several pints; also luckily the red-oxide rustproofing seemed to have done its job. IIRC I managed to plug the 'leak' where the water got in too.

Exactly the same thing used to happen with my 205. I never worked out how it got in there but I learned to drain it through the end bung using a short length of brake bleed tube.

Somebody made a joke about catheterising it!!

It can! My TF has filled up a sill once or twice as the drain holes get blocked as I dont use it that much and during the summer it sits outside. Access to the inner sills are easy for water as it can get in through the side air vents to the engine. A bit of mud thrown up to block the two drain holes solidifies and then it fills up. I regularly poke the holes with a wooden peg and waxoyl regularly to ensure that there are no long term effects - so far the water is clear or dirty if any runs out rather than red and rusty!

I don't know about the laguna, but this is a common and well documented problem with the Megane II - I've actually had the passenger side door pocket fill up with rainwater after a wet weekend, the problem being caused by a plastic membrane in the door not being installed properly

Apart from soaking the contents of the pockets, it will eventually lead to the death of the window mechanism. If the car is still under warranty, it should be dealt with under warranty

Passenger door of my Triumph Herald used to fill with water - until I drilled a small hole in the bottom of it.

If you'd waited another couple of weeks, the rust would have done the job for you!!!!

Now, now, let's not unduly malign a fine motor car.

Sills? Outriggers? Yes, plenty of rust.

Doors weren't so bad, as I recall.

Yep, my Renault Laguna has exactly the same issue with water sloshing about in the rear passenger door after heavy rain! I wish I knew the solution to this irritating problem!
