Tyre Pressures - Pezzer
I have just bought myself an 02 325i Touring. Checking the plate inside the door it advises 2.3 bar on the front and 2.8 on the rear. When this converts to PSI it seems an awful lot compared to any other car I have had. Now whilst I'm sure that they know what they talking about, can anybody advise if this usual for BMW/e46 s or is it because its the Touring ?

PS I had to put a lot of air in the rears especially.

Many thanks

Checker whether you might have misread the sticker, its not terribly clear.

There is a pressure for normal load/speed up to say 3/4 adults and then another set of pressures underneath those for autobahn speeds/heavy loads.

Easy to get those two mixed up...MB's are similarly confusing, it gives a set of pressures as normal and when you decipher further you have to deduct so much pressure if you running below 130mph or less than 4 adults and luggage.

IIRC the E46 compact goes 2.2fr 2.4r on 16" tyres.
Hmmm...that might have been 2.0fr 2.2rr.....its been a long week..;)

Interesting, both of these give different results which are much or slightly lower than what is written on the car !

Dunlop: Normal Load (front)2.2bar Normal Load (rear)2.6bar

Tyre Shopper: Front 2.0 BAR / 29 PSI REAR 2.2 BAR / 32 PSI

The definitive answer will be in the Owners Guide.
