The original title "Honestly, some people..." does not adequately describe what this thread it about.
There, you see? Other people's carelessness has just got my Kensal Green thread locked by a dyspeptic PU who has forgotten perhaps that canal transport is a form of motoring powered one would think quite often by side-valve Ford 10 engines.
Was it beyond everyone's talents to slip in an assertion that Maybachs are tatty-looking anonymous large jalopies, or that the Mclaren Mercedes is a paragon of masculine styling?
I must say I was impressed, really, by its side exhausts, two on each side, exiting not in front of the rear wheels but just behind the front ones, ahead of the door opening and below the 300SL styling cue louvres. Does the thing always spout its sheets of flame from them, or is there a cutout arrangement that only brings them into play when the intrepid driver really, really floors it? I think we should be told. Or perhaps if I ever see it again I will peer at the rear end to see if there are any pipes there too.

I had just spent 30 minutes typing out a post that would have integrated the canals and woven a historical motoring context through it. phoof - gone - lost - read only when I tried to post it.. Wasted time..
It was a attempted after the warning, but too late - sorry Lud (and PU)

Never mind. I think he likes us really.

I tripped over Theo Pafwhatsit ( the bloke from Dragon's Den anyway ) in London before Christmas while he was hurrying to his waiting Maybach. We grunted semi irritatedly but politely enough at one another and went on our ways. Nice car but wouldn't do for me. Boot too small......

Theo lives near me in Weybridge. He is often seen around in his maybach. Not sure which is uglier.

...Not sure which is uglier....
Think we could all guess which is worth more. :)

It would cost less and be easier to facelift (change) the maybach
you know that thing where they say owners look like their dogs....is this a new trend?

Pity that fine thread has been locked, if you think about it canal's were the roads of the past, and in a way should still be... think of all the heavy goods carried on our roads that would/should have been carried on the canals, and if the canals were still used think how much nicer the roads would be?
(is that a short version of your non-post oilrag?

And, honest, despite Pugugly saying so, I did not mooderate the Tesco thread. Someone else [I think hxj] asked for it to be locked, and I got the blame/thanks :

Oilrag - can't you compose it in Word or whatever (with the added benefit of a spell checker for me) and cut and paste it onto the site?
|
...or just c&p put in notepad or somesuch - I usually do with a (rare) longer post. I must say though, re the locking, the Moderators do put me in reminisce of the prefects during 1st prep. at my old alma mater... sometimes.

Sometimes they do seem to have got out of the wrong side of bed. ;>)
But they do have to keep us unruly lot in check, a thankless task.

Along that way,Tony. But it also had a great white shark in it - along with the weir at Castleford and Viv Nichlesons Cadillac. Also Klaud Bond - that special agent6 tghat you put in a 62 Traveller to restore compression - or not.
I`m still addicted to the Eeec pc 7001SD - with its tiny keyboard... Word? I might have a look for it`s alleged dopplegangger or is that `gagger` in the Linux.
Anyway, that`s the crust of what was lost. Incidentally, just washed a load of table salt off the bottom regions - Fiat Punto van - squeaky clean...

McLaren Mercedeses are becoming as common as muck, my dears. Passing the same body shop today the silver one had been joined by another in dark grey metallic. Neither of them seemed to be damaged in any way though, unlike the nearby black 911 Turbo which had a small dent on the n/s of its back bumper. Perhaps they were just there to have their eyeliner touched up.
The Mercedeses had no pipes coming out of their tail ends, just black plastic diffusers which will no doubt be declared illegal by the FIA soon.

I saw one o' they Maybachs once.
Signed, a Somerset boy far from home and at present on somebody else's computer.

Only ever seen a Maybach once - in central London near Piccadilly on a day trip earlier this year. It thought it simply long and tasteless - not in a bling way, just in a anonymous way that blancmange is tasteless - it could have been any large limousine.

A Maybach lives (doesn't seem to go out much) in the underground car park where I park my bike (under my office building). It cohabits with a 1960's Merc 600 Grosse and a 1980's RR Carmargue, all apparently owned by the chap that owns the buidilng. The Maybach is very large and quite ugly; bit like an overblown S-class on steroids.

A.
