Local Vauxhall Dealers has 2008 57 plate Vauxhall 1.9 CDTi 120 SRI for sale at £7995. Current car is a Focus 2 1.8TDCI Sport.
Focus is a bit cramped in the boot when we go away and rear legroom is not great for our kids in a car seats...
Would people change or am I wasting £2k? Focus needs Breakdown cover, tyres and wipers soon. MOT and warranty expire in May.
Which is the best car for reliablity?

You'll certainly get better rear legroom and boot space in the Vectra.
I've not driven a Focus 2 but if it's like the first one you may not find the handling as sharp in the Vectra.
I'd change if I definitely needed more space but wouldn't get rid of the Focus on the basis of "Breakdown cover, tyres and wipers soon. MOT and warranty" That lot can easily be sourced for much less than the 2k cost to change

It may not handle as well as a focus but the vectra has a reputation as a fantastic cruiser. If you can wait a bit, they won't be able to give the things away in a few months once we're in the middle of winter and the new Insignia has been launched.

Price to change 2K sounds good if only for nearly three years of warranty - sounds as if that took a dive must have been near 18k new !

Have a look around foe a 150bhp Vectra if you need the diesel. The deals are there at the moment. If you don't do buckets of miles, go for the 2.2 direct petrol engine. It's economical, a good drive and very reliable. They are also a lot cheaper than the diesels.

The vectra isn't my cup of tea, but with new pre reg petrols at 9K and diesels at 10K they do seem quite a bargain, big car and comfortable too unless on huge alloys, these prices at normal dealers so possible to beat them i assume.
Don't wish to start a row but as we've discussed a few times before, maybe it would be worth spending the extra couple of grand to quarantee a non misfuelled or otherwise abused example.
