03 2.0 Timing Belt due when - cottontop
Hi all,

Finally plucking up the courage to look around for a replacement for my sturdy Mk3 Golf Estate. Due to look at a Xsara Estate, 2.0 (110) HDi.

Does anyone know when the timing belt should be replaced. Just fancy knowing as the car is low mileage and it may come in handy when chatting about the price.

It's given as 100,000 miles or 10 yrs under normal conditions.

Its one less thing to worry about as it has 55k on the clock, but they are wanting £3500 for it (but I think I should be able to bring it down !!)

That's very strong money; old Cit's don't hold their value - too many 45% fleet discounts when they were new.

That mileage is low for the year too. Worth a check.

Indeed, I paid £3400 for my 52 reg Xsara HDi 110 with 50k on the clock in August 2006!
Admittedly that was cheap at the time.

Hi Screwloose,
I've got a Pug 2.0 Hdi 52' plate - pretty certain its 110. I presume this is the same engine and the same change intervals apply. Mine 's only done 55k.

Pug say; for cars on 12,000 service intervals, 96K; for 20,000 intervals, 90K.

"Use and service history should be taken into account." No time limit given; but ten years is enough for any belt.

You need to be changing now forget the 100k or 90k its a piece of rubber and its 6 years old something I would not depend on.
