Land Rover - 85 3.5 petrol efi - wont start

85 3.5 petrol efi - wont start - range rover 3.5efi
can anyone help please.
range rover won't start. fires when turning the key for a few seconds then starter just turns but no firing anymore.
fuel pump ok plenty of pressure.
good spark at plugs.
distributor cap and rotor arm clean.
plugs in good condition.
tried easy start but fires intermittently for a few seconds and thats it.
battery good.
a friend suggested a noid light to test injectors .is this a good idea and where do i get one from .the e bay stuff all seeems to be for fords etc.
any help greatly appreciated

When did it last run and what's in the tank?

Is the resistor block attached to the minus side of the coil?

early ones poss had cold start injector & the fuel may be from that causing it to start for a moment. I would check injectors & fuel pressure. ECU's do fail on these.
Try spome carb cleaner down the air intake whilst cranking but don't try reving as these have a habit of spitting back. If it fires up you will know its a fuel problem.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS
charged battery and using"easy start" as soon as she fired up i switched Her over to LPG.The car ran fine on the LPG side
I then ran her to operating temp. and switched off and tried to restart using petrol.the same symptoms occured(i.e refused to start).
Does this mean that any of the following can be eliminated--
Electronic ignition
fuel injectors
ECU
If so\ is it likely to be fuel pressure regulator or something else Any advice /elaborations greatly appreciated Nick

Ignition OK; for anything else, it depends on what type of LPG set-up is fitted.

Single-point? Multi-point? Emulators?
