another disabled parking question - skorpio
just seen a car parked on double yellows on a busy road. It was quite obvious the driver was not the disabled person but the passenger, an elderley lady holding two sticks was. I know I'm making assumptions but let's assume it was mother and son.

If he parked there because he has the badge in his car, but chose to get out of his car in order to run an errand, and the disabled passenger stayed where she was, is this an abuse of the system and if seen, can a traffic warden challenge the driver as to why he parked where he did?

I can fully understand it if the parked there to allow the lady to get out and walk a few feet to the front door of the shop/office/bank etc, but how is it perceived if this was for purely his own purposes.

"disabled person's badge" means a badge in the form prescribed by regulation 11 issued by a local authority for display on a motor vehicle driven by a disabled person, or used for the carriage of a disabled person.

If the scenario was as suggested then this is abuse of the scheme and not only allow a CEO to ticket but could provide grounds for the LA to take it away.
