I'm sure this should be in the manual but I can't see it easily.
After I stopped the car I knocked the indicator stalk and held it in position, I then heard four (or 5) loud beeps which obviously reset something on the car.
This happens holding it either up or down, do any of you clever experts know what this might be changing.
I suppose I could always call a dealer but that is really a last resort with my local dealers.
Thanks in advance

I assume it's to warn you that you've now put the parking lights on, just incase you're leaving it for a long time.
Indicate left to put the nearside parking lights on and vice versa.

Being a diesel, it will have a heavy duty battery fitted. I doubt very much whether having the park lights on for a few hours would drain the battery. 10 watts max (5 at front, and 5 at rear) would draw less than 1 amp per hour out of the battery.
That aside, the relevant indicator light will be displayed in the speedo pod for a few mins when the parking light has been selected.

As DD says it's a parking light, so it's intended that you can leave it on all night with no issues unless you have a very dodgy battery.
