04 2.0 HDi - Hall effect sensor - Firestormblue
Good morning.

I have been told i have a 'hall effect' sensor on the filling neck of my HDI car that may be faulty. (they cannot turn the 'diesel aditive minimum level' off?) Is there a way to measure or check this to test if it is indeed faulty? I'm handy with a meter...

Has the additive ECU been changed and what is the exact code number stored?

Er, no, and i didn't take note of the number. A diesel additive warning came on, so took it to my local garage. They put new additive in a little tank at the side of the fuel tank. They cleared all the codes and reset counters? But the code reader is saying there is no fuel cap fitted. I think. I can find out what the codes were by taking the car back. I think the code reader is a Snapon make...sulus, solus?

The counter won't reset without the cap sensor reading correctly. Have the magnets dropped off the cap?

No, both magnets are on....

Is this the same car?

No, mines a sw. I've been looking at that topic actually though. Seems they are having similar problems? It's from looking at that that i saw the cap had magnets. I didn't know that!

If the magnets are present; change the cap sensor.

As it's Hall-effect; it only reads on or off, depending if it's in a magnetic field.

Where is the senser located? Thank you for your help so far.

On the filler neck; when the cap is fitted, one of the magnets is nearly touching it.

The fault codes are:
P1446 - Additive Quantity
P1435 - Diesel Additive System
P1442 - Additive Quantity

Can anyone help me please?

Just thought i would tell you what i have found out:
To test the hall effect fuel cap sensor, the readings are:
149 kohms (Cap on)
12 - 15 Ohms (Cap off)

Screwloose may confirm or shoot me down on this ( i think perhaps we've got off on the wrong foot)

I now also have a P1429 Particle filter pressure code. Going to try and test it tomorrow.

I'm sincerely sorry if i have offended anyone....
