On Jimmy Doherty's Farming Heroes (BBC2) it was said that the single 240m chimney at the Drax power station puts out as much CO2 annually as six million cars. How's that for some perspective on the CO2 issue?
Drax generates 7% of the UK's electricity. How many cars are there in the country -- 25 million?

Or, put another way. UK cars generate, each year, as much direct CO2 as does generating about 30% of our total electricity needs. How's that for some perspective on the CO2 issue?

[note - the comparision of each 660MW turbines to the physical size to a bus is incorrect. Each 660MW set has an HP, IP, plus 3 LP turbines and from end to end, including the generator, the length is probably around 10 bus lenghts ].
