This may make you weep........

My poor neglected SIII needs to find a new home, but it hasn't moved for over a year has no MOT or insurance.

Would you sell it without MOT or try to get a ticket before selling it?

In theory it shouldn't need to have any work done to get its MOT but being immobile for about 14 months will have produced some problems, I'm sure.

It's a 1982 Y reg 2.25 diesel County - very genuine with 74,000 miles on it. Any idea what it's worth?

Short or long? How many dents in it and what's the chassis like?

If it's totally original and fairly nice; get it MOT'd and tidied, then a collector [probably US or EU] might give you £4-5000 for it.

If it's rough; you could be looking at a tenth of that.

Put it in for the MoT - best case - it passes. Worst case - you have a failure sheet which can quite quickly be assessed for cost/time to fix for a pass. Without it you are looking at even less value, IMHO. Middle case - it fails on some quick/cheap items which you get done.

Thanks chaps. Will give it a bit of TLC - but then I know I'll just start driving it again....

Sorry; can't help with that problem, there's no known cure for Land-Rover addiction - I'm still "taking it one day at a time" myself....

Please don't scrap it! As someone has mentioned get an MOT done and find exactly whats what.
If It is original then it will have the later 5 bearing engine which lasts a lot longer and compaired to the old 3 bearing one's are a lot smoother.
Try and find a good home

Don't worry, scrapping it was never an option, it was a daft indulgence a couple of years ago, but it doesn't make any sense to keep it that's all so I'll get it MOT'd and then wait for someone like me of three years ago who is looking for a really nice, original SWB.
