My poor Citroen is starting to make more and more noises!
Hoping this one can be resolved...
Last week it developed a creaking when I turn the steering wheel. Sounds like something should just need lubricating. Is this the case? Or am I oversimplifying?
Haven't been able to find any clues as to what you oil. Can any one help?

Where is the creak? If it's just plastic trim in the column surround touching the steering wheel boss or something of the sort it isn't a problem, and may respond to a bit of trim-bashing.

Worth checking the condition and tension of the belt which drives the power steering pump.
(I'm assuming it does have power steering, I think all the ZXs by this stage did have power steering, and I know that the 1997 ZX 1.4 which my wife has does).

Hello, thanks for your super quick replies... wasn't expecting that!
Pretty sure it's nothing to do with plastic trim (unfortunately!). You can hear the creak outside the car. Having had a proper listen, the sound is actually coming from around the front wheel joint, drivers side. It creaks in all positions, from start to finish of turn.
Does this still sound like it could be the belt (It's power assisted steering acc. to hand book, afraid to say I don't know the exact difference) Astrabob? If so, where do I find it and what should I look for?
Or am I looking in the wrong place with the steering?
Thanks helpful people x
