2000 1.5 how long for petrol to deteriorate ? - Car
In a car doing say a low mileage of 1000 to 2000 miles a year, how long would it take for the petrol to deteriorate to a point where it could cause harm to the engine i.e a 12 gallon tank would last a max of 131 days at 30mpg.

I know its not quite the same thing but my lawn mower/hedge trimmer / strimmer / chainsaw, always seem to and run fine with the petrol left in them from last year.

I've started a car with half a tank of 4 year old petrol with 2 gallons of new juice sloshed in. 4½ month old petrol is not going to be a problem in your example. If you are worried don't fill it right up & stick some fresh fuel in ever few weeks.

As long as the engine runs,the fuel is OK.

Thanks for the replies, will either not fill up to the top or will top up every five weeks so old petrol is mixed with new petrol.
