Buying one - anything specific to look for ? - stardust
Hi,

Having put up with a troublesome Skoda Fabia I am tempted to look at a Mazda 323 1.5LXI advertised locally. Is there anything specific I should look out for and when should the cam belt be changed and is it expensive

Cheers

Alan

stardust - I had a V plate Mazda 323 1.5LXI and now I've got a V plate Mazda 323 2.0TD. The cam belt should be changed every 54k miles and I got mine changed on the diesel car last week. You could get most of the parts from Euro Car parts and the cam belt cost me £30 and I paid £70 to get it changed. I service it myself and the servicing parts are quite reasonable from Euro car parts, the oil filter costs me £4.
Just look for the usual things, don't think they've got any common fault apart from hand brake because I think it could play up so check that.

Hi
It's worth checking in oil filler cap, rocker cover for sludge as short runs and no oil changes not good. cvj boots go about 90k and that don't help drive shafts and of course rust under floors, sills, rear arches. Best luck you could do a lot worse mate
