Bet it's got inchscape on plate as well. That might not be how you spell it though. When I was thinking of a Skoda Octavia most of the ones that came up were supplied or reg by them it's a very big outfit. Would not worry about that just look for a goodun. Motorpoint sometimes have a few but you can buy new imports from Malta at Motorpoint quite cheap with good spec. Motorhouse 2000 had some nice ones too when I was looking. Fords of Winsford had quite a few when I went about a week a go. Even Skoda dealers have them with AE and inchscape on plates! All from block been on lease I expect. Sorry not much help if your in Scotland but sometimes it's worth travelling. Last but least check date on seat belts as some are older than they look with reg if you know what I mean.

I noticed over the years many Fiats are 'WX' registered (Bristol) could it be they have a big wholsaler in that region?

Cheers for that, thought the mileages too high for ex rental lease, and they seem to be registered Sept06 so 17 months old, not exactly a round figure?

By the way I drove a 200 mile old Octavia 1.9TD (ambience ?) basic spec. car. Nice car, far more discrete than the equivalent Passat and less of everything than a Mondeo. It was a nice simple basic motor. The engine was a bit off the pace compared to my Roomster and a bit noisy - parked next to a 3 series in a car park it looked every bit the business. Nice car.

PU, agree with you. He is looking at the Elegance model which has alloys, fogs, reversing sesnsors etc. He needs a big boot and contemplated the estate originally until he saw the size of the hatchback boot! Truly huge! All this on a (I think) Golf floorpan?
Interestingly when my Fabia was in getting serviced this week (ouch!) speaking to the dealer he said that they can still get the old style Octavias brand new, and these are mostly what the taxis and private hires use around here.
Apparently there are 2 different factories churning out the new style and the old style! Sounded strange to me, wonder how ins companies differentiate between them as I would guess there would be a big price difference to justify ordering the old style rather than new?
|
...The Roomie was in for a towbar (ouch !), there was a very nice Octavia Scout in the showroom I would be tempted but it was 20k and out of my league (by choice).
Just checked out Inchcape's website they don't do Skoda apparently.
|
Well the Fabia was £360 for a 40k service and first MOT and if I had taken them up on their "advisories" it would have been £900-1000 !
This was out of my league (not by choice!)
Agree on the Octavia Scout - looks good, mind you the vrS in that metallic blue looks the dogs u-know-whats!
Had a Roomster 3 as a courtesy car - liked it!

They do - My Elegance is due in about 4 weeks.

I notice a lot of hire cars with east anglian registration letters - bet it is to do with the port where to motors land - maybe Felixstowe in Suffolk and Bristol handle a fair few imports and therefore the hire companies work near the docks and register there?
|
I should think it's wherever the big hire car companies get the best bulk deals. There have been Bristol-registered Fiats for a long time, and recently a lot of Focuses with N registrations (Northumberland).
|
Lots of VW's used to carry NH, NN, NV and may well still use K+upper end of alphabet - all Northants registrations. Presumably linked to VAG UK being in Milton Keynes.
Same for MB as well I think.

Lot of BMW Bikes on R- likewise see many Hondas on R- as well.
