Hi, this is my first post, so hello everyone. I am looking for an opinion on the following.
I'm considering selling my Golf VR6 car after about 6-7 years of ownership. There are two electric windows (drivers side) not working, and both immobiliser keys are patched up with wire and cardboard and although these work they look a bit heath Robinson. Is it worth getting these niggles sorted out beforehand, or sell it as it is from a monetary point of view?
I suppose this could be a more general question of does the extra resale value of an older second hand car justify the cost of repair of non essentials?

Personally I would get them fixed, if I was viewing a car with these problems it would reflect on the owner (no offence meant).
If I was viewing this car with everything working then that is what I would expect for the type of car it is and show that it has been cared for.
Also. from the buyers point of view, viewing a car with faults gives you an excuse to offer a much lower price based on the cost to get it fixed. You will sell it much quicker if all is in working order.

I should add it is a 1997 R reg. and probably in the region of £2500, I would guess getting all this repaired might be £300-400 not cheap.

For £2500 You need to have the car in very good order. Check recent completed Ebay sales for real-world prices.
