HDi Cool 2006 - rear brake disks need replacing !! - greenhedge
Vehicle 16 months old, 22,000 miles, second service completed recently [a little early] and Citroen Exeter reports rear disks badly corroded and need replacing.

Althouth I am not an engineer this seems a little steep especially as it is not covered by the Warranty. Surely it's either a manufacturing issue [poor material or assembly] or pistons not moving freely in callipers [either factory assembly or subsequent servicing issue] . Servicing carried out at main dealer BEFORE suggested servicing interval.

Either way, the Citroen offer of paying for the parts still leaves me with a bill for £90+ in labour costs.

Do I grab the money and bite my tongue or is this a known issue worth fighting for?

Overall it's a good vehicle - a bit quirky - but a good vehicle.

22,000 does seem a little bit poor rear brake discs don't get as hot as fronts so corrosion builds up, but you should at least double that plus some.

Get some more reports off other owners but i would not be that happy.

A friend had the rear discs replaced at a similar age / mileage on her Accord CDTi Exec.
Done under warranty.

I'd press for a warranty payment or at least some goodwill. The disks need replacing not through wear and tear but through corrosion which I would have thought pretty poor given the age of the car. It's not as if it is a silly low mileage either, round about average, so they really shouldn't corrode IMHO.

Oerfectly normal. You are driving a French built down to a cost car.. and rear disks will do little work. I bet you also have alloy wheels and wash it regularly with a hose and then garage it?

One son with Audi TT (18mths) had same problem with rears - argued and eventually got back labour but paid for parts.

Older son Lexus IS was similarly afflicted a bout 1 mth later - replaced under warranty and new pads foc. Quote - "after a service a Lexus should look and drive as new"
It appears anything apart from damage is covered for 3 yrs.
