bought a ZT! - brg190 pete
All

I know I'm raising my head above the parapet here, and may wll get shot at, but I'm very pleased to say that I have just put a deposit down on a ZT, an 04 plate with only 15k miles, in absolutely as-new condition, in British Racing Green. The previous owner used it as a weekend car only, with it being stored in a barn the rest of the time. He works for the National Trust in Wales and part-ex'd the car against a 4.6 ZT - which must be a good sign. (If it's anyone on here, let me know - the car is a credit to you!)

When I've raised this subject before, there have been some fairly vociferous anti-MG Rover comments. I guess I'm either going to prove all the MG bashers wrong or join your ranks if the car proves to be a problem! Either way, I'll let you know how it goes.

Best wishes to all for the New Year!

The only negative thing I can say is I'd kill for the 4.6 one !

I've gone for the 2.5 V6 190 - which is a big step up in power from my 2.0 petrol Primera. I'm not looking forward to working out the mpg on a 2.5 - I certainly couldn't cope with the mpg of a 4.6!

Congratulations - I;m sure the pair of you will be very happy together, I am with my MG! :-)

I got a fair few negative comments on here when I bought mine, and someone even suggested that I keep a running log of everything that goes wrong with it. I'm pleased to say that I've had to add virtually nothing to the list so far, in April I will have to tell everyone that she needed a new suspension control arm and brake discs, but suspension components are par for the course with most cars.

Enjoy and don't forget to tell us what she's like to drive!

I had mine for two years and it was great. Well built, no problems and the V6 sounded marvelous

Hope you got the leather/Alcantara seats because they are without doubt the comfiest I have ever sat in. Ignore the knockers who knew somebodies aunties, cousins, mates, sister whose car was rubbish and enjoy it.

Good for you, hope it gives you many miles of fun.

I have to have the loadspace of an estate and always liked the ZT estate. Still could be persuaded.....maybe. Or perhaps another Mondy, or a 5 series touring, or an X-type estate or.........What's that old saying ? " I used to be indecisive ....but now I'm not so sure ! "

Congratulations - imo BRG is a great colour on the ZT and the 190 is a great drive. Recently myself I test drove a ZT260 (4.6 V8) and a Rover 75 V8. I too am sorely tempted....................

Good man, hope it lives up to your expectations!

I was strongly tempted towards a blue 190+ a few months ago ( I think it needs the spoiler that comes in that trim level to break up the rear 'droop' and make it look a bit more pushy) but I bottled it due to concerns over spares, the cost of cambelt changes, and finding someone to do it. I still pay a little too much attention when I see them glide past though :)

I'm pleased for you too, i always thought they were a lovely motor, and different from the run of the mill.

Can't for the life of me understand all the Rover knockers (is that rude or just me?), I would have really liked a V8 meself and may yet cos the V8 bug is rearing its head again.

I too love BRG, proper old fashioned British colour.

Thanks to all for your positive comments. As promised, I will let you know how I get on with the car and whether I have any problems.

In answer to a couple of posts, it has the best spec as far as I'm concerned (not biased obviously) - including the leather/alcantara combination, CD changer, dual zone climate control and, of course, the big rear wing (which my wife hates but I think looks fabulous).

Your wife clearly has excellent taste.

Of course that's why she married you ;-)

Congrats on your perchase primera man!
Being an owner of a ZR I can say that it may not be as refined as similar cars in it's class but it's a joy to drive.
