Not sure if the mods will like this thread but..............
Well I have not been posting long but at the end of the year I wanted to wish everyone a very merry christmas and all the best for the new year.
I find this site brilliant and that is cos of everyone posting on it.
I have learned alot - there are some very clever people out there & I have been put right a couple (or more) times - I have not always agreed with everyone and vice versa but that has what made it interesting and fun.
If I have upset anyone - I'm sorry it was never intended - I like a bit of banter both ways and sometimes it does not read that way - so apologies.
Have a great Christmas where ever you are and what ever your driving.

Well said Pendlebury ! Likewise I have only been posting for a short while but have thoroughly enjoyed "meeting" the Backroomers. It really does remind me of a ( mainly ) friendly local. Even the characters, from the grumpy old guys in the corner, the know all, the friendly but strict bar staff, the old boy who is always there and gives great value on almost any subject. the joker and the well meaning slightly naive guy who almost always misunderstands the thread. Merry Christmas to all ! May your valves never bounce and your bearings stay moist !

>>May your valves never bounce and your bearings stay moist !
And may your trunions be regularly greased. As for your nipples...
May I add my festive felicitations? Happy Christmas to you all - hope you have a good one wherever you are and whatever you are doing.
Cheers.

Greetings to all from Midlands Meldrew! I enjoy reading the site and I post more often than I should! I would like to thank the Mods for their guidance and control and I would like to express my gratitude to the many knowledgeable and experienced people who give their time freely, and free, to answer questions. Unfair to pick any out but I will! My votes go to Screwloose and a/c&lekkiedoc (spelling?). Thank you gentlemen!

A very happy - preferably MERRY, Christmas to everyone.
As an organist I'm up to my eyes in carols at the moment: have you ever thought what a silly carol 'I saw three ships' is? Think where Bethlehem actually is - well inland.
We wouldn't do this in church but this irreverent version went down well in the village hall last week:
I saw three ships come sailing in,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
2 Pray whither sailed those ships all three,
On Christmas Day etc.
3 O, they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas Day etc.
4 Now that is strange, it seems to me,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day,
As Bethlehem?s not on the sea,
It?s nowhere near the sea.
5 So if you sing this silly song,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day,
You?d better DRINK as you shing along,
On Chrishmash Day in the morning.

Avant,
Just watching a BBC 4 programme on WW2 Christmases....very impressive if not moving account of the bombing of St Michael's Cathedral in Coventry with a contemporary singing of Coventry Carol that Christmas sung in the ruins.
Also being in Wales listening to local Radio and hearing some Welsh sung carols by children - That ethnic stereotype is true - God* they can't half sing....emotions have been pretty raw for us this Christmas and it moved Mrs P to tears (despite being an Accountant !) absolute brilliant harmony from young kids singing alto and soprano as if it comes natural.
*Not blasphemy fellow mods by the way.
PS
The BBC is brilliant.

"The webpage cannot be found" when I clicked on the link. Looking at the url though gives a clue to what it's about. Something along the lines of a modern day "gone with the wind" maybe?

With a BIG thank you to HJ and the mods (without whom etc....) Happy Crimble all!

Same for me I'm afraid!
Abusing my moderator's perogative to post things here that should really go in the silly thread (and not opening the flood gates for you to do the same....): My Christmas offerring to you all is www.elfyourself.com - it even made me smile.

Maybe we should put the mods "heads" on the dancing elves.

That might make them goblins...... :)

Better say it now..its nearly here. All the best to you all at Christmas ! and to people from different faiths, or none at all, hope you have a peaceful break.
Its going to be an expensive Christmas here in Yorkshire with not many trucks to slipstream across the M62 and back on boxing day.
(Unless Gordonbennet`s heading that way)
I could be classified as an old (better not try to write it) in the corner, don`t think I contribute that much but am at least filling some space and packing the forum out a bit while learning from you all.
I have to fight hard from letting a surreal perspective loose in some of my posts, sorry for the bits that get through and perhaps cause the Mods pause for thought......

Well, yes, happy and/or merry Christmas to everyone here and their families. And a prosperous, not-too-traumatic New Year.
Leave a decent gap on the motorway and don't let the mimsers and roadhogs get you down.

a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everybody.

Over the past year the HJ 'subscribers' have answered many technical queries for me and have helped me out on several different vehicles I have owned.
I ask more questions than I can answer for other people and very much appreciate the advice I have received
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!!!!
PS, My MGB project will start in the New Year so MG buffs stand by
