I have a rattle/rumble noise from what sounds like an area between the front wheels and immediately below the driver/passenger seat.
I have taken it to a mechanic I know who have got it up on a ramp and lubricated bushes/joints and all sorts but says he cannot locate the noise.
I am not mechanic so all I can do in my amateurish way describe the noise and hope someone recognises the symptoms. In my words it sounds like a suspension damper is rattling in the bottom joint with the suspension leg.
Drop link would be favourite suspect - but its more of a knock than a rattle. Rattle would come from something less substantial, like an exhaust heat-shield.
"Thanks but I did forget to add that it rattles when I go over rough roads, speed bumps and things like that."
Which adds more credence to a drop link. They usually sound like a ball bearing being shaken in a tin, which I would describe as more of a rattle than a knock you might get with a ball joint or similar. They usually close up too when the car's jacked up making them difficult to diagnose.
Hi, did you ever get to resovle the problem you had with rattle/rumble sound from under your Civic. I have sounds like to same problem with my 56 reg Civic any ideas. Your help would be appreciated as driving me mad! Thanks.
