According to Martin Lewis of Moneysavingexpert.com, most people who have been duped into buying this insurance can probably claim their premiums back.
As many here will have taken out finance at some point in their lives to buy a set of wheels I hope that the moderators will see a firm motoring link, however I will not moan too much if this gets slotted into "I have a question".
This guy knows what he's talking about. I would only post this if I thought it could be benefit to someone on here. On his advice I have already successfully claimed back some of the excess charges levied on me in the shape of mortgage exit fees
Please watch his video here. It will take 15 mins of your time but could be worth a lot of money to you or someone you know.

I am sure that at least one person here will save or claim back a sum of money.

Strange - that long link has "pushed" your post underneath HJ's links at the right hand side for me and made it almost impossible to read properly.
Browser firefox. No doubt our highly efficient mods will tinyurl it at some point??
p.s. MSE web site been down most of today due to DDOS attack.
Sorry I missed the extra long link, now shrunk to something manageable !

MSE theorise that the attack is in response to their campaign for claiming back PPI costs.
Now Dave has answered the question re DDoS, perhaps we could focus on the PPI situation with the FSA, which I'm sure is a major feature of most car loans (indeed most of any type of loans) taken out by BR members.
Can I please ask you all to watch the 15min video? It lays out what PPI is and why and how you may be able to claim back. Often a letter is enough to sort the problem out.>>

"duped into buying this insurance"
I always felt this was the banks and insurers trying to have their cake and eat it. I took out a loan earlier this year and had to resist the bank's blandishments to have PPI on top (which was getting on for half the premium). Indeed, the paperwork came with it included and I had to sign up for it then request it to be removed during the grace period (28 days) which was slightly nerve-wracking. All went according to plan, thankfully, but I did get a revised quote when it became apparent to them that I meant to proceed The new quote was for a dramatically smaller amount, which I think speaks for itself.
Hopefully, the attacks on MSE will have exactly the opposite to the desired effect, as the site is well-known enough for this to make the news.
