04 wiper linkage failure - wrecker
hi,wondering if Vauxhall recalled on l/h wiper linkage failure because they have modified them because of linkage falling apart as is mine has fell apart on my 2004 Vectra c 1.9cdti and they want £170.11 for a new replacement when this is a problem from the start, which i feel this should be done foc.

No recall that I am aware of.

2004? Still in warranty, or just out of? If the latter, see if Vauxhall will contrubute towards paying some of the bill for you.

Or DIY for a lot cheaper.

Dave, that DIY job is not as easy as it looks.

Replaced my linkage last month. It's a pig to separate the old linkage from the motor.

You can do a temporary fix on the old linkage with a bit of cut up carrier bag inserted into the socket to tighten the fit - still means removing the windscreen trim and wiper arms mind...

To the OP - On an 04 plate I'd guess your car is out of warranty therefore you are going to have to pay VX around £170 or as suggested DIY for about £80.

Vauxhall won't admit there is a problem even though the new linkages are modified. If your car is under warranty, people on the Vectra C forum have had them replaced FOC

Don't bother, I'll never buy another Vauxhall again. My timing chain has just snapped on an '04 plate 2.2 direct SRi. It has 60K on the clock, I bought it from Vauxhall and has full VSH. They told me the repair bill is going to be £1500 plus. When I mentioned the fact that everyone knows the chains snap on these they didn't want to know and told me that this had been sorted, well obviously pink fluffy dicenot. After a lot of complaining to my local dealer carrying out the repair I managed to get 30% towards repairs from Vauxhall as a good will gesture from which they wouldn't budge. I can't go to anyone or prove that this is a manufacturing fault so I'm going to have to grab my ankles and take this one like a man. When it comes back from the garage it's going up for sale and I won't replace it with a poxy vauxhall that gives up after 4 years. I wish I'd never sold my 8 valve SRi Cav.
pink fluffy dice off Steve.
Thank you.

Deeply frustrating I know but you tripped the swear filter twice - not good :-(
