I had a look at a Mondeo that had just had its wishbones replaced. I know it is common practice to replace
the bolt under the gearbox from the bottom instead of the top.
On this particular car the bolt was just touching the gearbox
infact the knocking noise caused by this was my reason for investigation. I feel it could easily have damaged the gear box if it had been left. This job was carried out by a well known fast fit center (not nit wit fitters) but they can be found at the front of the phone directory. If you own a Mondeo I should pop your head under and have a look. This car had done high mileage so I suspect the mountings were a bit softer than usual.
