Golf Mk 4 TDPDI steering judder - jono1
For the past year I have noticed intermittent steering vibration/judder which can happen at any speed but more likely when either braking or accelerating. Sometimes it just comes on all of a sudden and can be quite alarming. During the last year I have had all new tyres and the wheels balanced three times but the problem is still there. I live in France and strangely this does'nt seem to happen in the UK!
The car is right hand drive and has done 60K miles

Could be the Camber / tracking (toe-in/out) on the car. Because in France you're on the other side of the road, if it doesn't do it in the UK, then this is a possible cause.

Thanks charlesb. This is exactly what I wanted to hear, but thought it a bit bizarre to suggest. I have suspected this for some time although my garage could'nt see it. May have been lost in translation!! I will take it to a tracking station and ask them to track it French style!! thanks again.
