Does anyone know how to reset the service indicator display for the combo van?
|
The proceedure to switch off INSP message is as follows.
1. Ignition Off
2. Hold Trip Reset In
3. Turn on Ignition
4. Still Holding Trip Reset wait for three (or maybe four) dashes
5. Turn off Ignition
6. Turn on Ignition
On later Vauxhall models you also have to hold the brake pedal down before turning the ignition on (same point as step 2 above)

Thanks for the response Dave, I tried it both with and without the brake pedal depressed but it did not clear the message. It does flash with 4 dashes instead of the 0, but just goes back to the same message afterwards. A mechanic I know says Vauxhall use a computer now, so it looks like I'm stuck with it. Our fleet mechanics who did the service say they can't clear the display because they haven't received the training or support from Vauxhall they need and I need to take the van to the local Vauxhall dealership, but the service dept there is dire. The last time I took it there I had to hang around for 2 hours for them to reprogram my spare key because they had forgotten to do it after they had replaced the faulty alarm system and done something to the central locking. All this after only 4000 miles. It has certainly put me off buying a Vauxhall from them.

Hi Jimbo,
I think I missed a step out between 4 & 5. Once the dashes appear, release the trip reset before turning off the ignition.
This is the only reason why I *think* it didn't work. People have used this method for ages on Vauxhalls, and it even works on the current Mk5 Astra's (with also using the brake pedal).

Thanks again Dave,
I tried releasing the trip between 4 & 5, but it didn't stop the message reappearing when the ignition was turned on again. Unfortunately it looks like I'm stuck with it until the next inspection, assuming our fleet mechanics know how to do it by then.

This is the information from Autodata ... It is the same as DD says ...

Thanks scotmech,
I had a look at the link, I see it's for 2001 - 4 vehicles. Presumably it doesn't work on the newer models (mine is 06).

That's where pressing the brake pedal was also needed. Looks like Vauxhall have moved the goal posts once again to stop people DIY'ing the service interval reset.

Sorry ... I only have info up to 2004 ...

Thanks for your help anyway guys, it was worth a try.
