I'm about to buy 4 tyres for my car but i don't know where the best place to go is or what to get.
I've looked on my tyres and found some real good prices but when I've phoned around for fitting, garages are wanting £20 per wheel because they don't like not supplying the tyre
My tyres are 195/55/15 and the brands I'm looking at are
Michelin pilot primacy
Bridgestone potenza
vredestein sportract 3
contenental premium contact 2
any advice or opinions on these would be appreciated
I was wondering if anyone knew when Costco would have sale on the Michelin pilot primacy as there price is £72 at the min.

Two questions:
1. Where are you in the country? Maybe someone can recommend a good local specialist like Bathwick in Wales/South West or Micheldever in Hampshire?
2. Why don't you use the suggested local fitter from MyTyres?
Also you could try www.etyres.com and www.valuetyres.co.uk as they quote all inclusive fitted prices.

Mytyres have their own network of fitters who charge less. If none of them are conveniently situated then try looking on blackcircles.com for their fitters. Obviously buy the tyres from wherever is cheaper!
£20 per wheel is extracting the urine. The robbing swine.

if i take my own tyres to my local tyre outlet for fitting i pay £10 a corner, this includes taking the wheel off the car changing the tyres and balancing and refitting but not a new valve (i supply these myself) the charge also includes the disposal of the old tyre carcas,so depending where you live £20 doesnt seem too extortionate to me

If you are near a www.justtyres.co.uk depot you will probably get your tyres fitted for half the price you've been quoted so far.
They don't use air guns, either.

thanks folks im in stoke on trent even £40 or £50 for fitting 4 tyres makes the online price look less tempting. The other thing ive noticed about suppliers is that they try to fob you off with cheap brands that they have contracts with.
Ive lost count of the people that say "michelin make these they are just as good"
if they were just as good how come they are half the price?
