Have had a slight problem with both of my wipers stopping for a second, always at the bottom of the windscreen, a quick flick of wiper stalk and hey presto they start working again. Not too fussed until recently when they now seem to be failing on every journey and the time to get them restarted is becoming alarming, it is now something like 15-20 seconds. Has anyone any idea what should be looked at, my thoughts so far are the wiper motor and the wiper stalk, could it be some form of loose connection?
Cheers

Sounds like it maybe the self park device of the wiper motor if its failing at the bottom.

Maybe a relay problem, the wiper motor loosing power so going back to park. Is it only on one speed that it stops? I don?t work for VW but VW is in my dealer network so if you need any info post your vin number and I can put it into ELSA (VW service info) and get you what you need, such as a wiring diagram and so on.

Happens on any speed, simply goes to the bottom of the windcreen and stays there. Can cycle through the settings on the stalk quickly for anything up to 15-20 seconds then it works again.
Since thread posted car has been hydrauliced in flood water (a very unsporting 4x4 pushing a bow wave over my air intake as I gently crept through the water!) so I'll be getting shot of it as soon as I can, depedning on repair cost/insurance write off.
