Ripped off on parts - ebay related - scfc_151
recently saw a guy breaking a 406 on ebay and i need fans for a 306 with aircon. I emailed him asking if he had any 306 fans

he sent a reply saying he had the exact fans for my 306 - twin fans for a/c model and they were the right make (ecia)

I received the 'fan' and it was a single fan off a 406, although the motor was ecia (not much use). Ive tried to ring the guy and hes ignoring calls and emails, event getting his g/f to answer saying hes out (i could hear him in the background)

just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and if so can anything be done considering the item wasnt advertised and bought off ebay and i had to send a postal order!

Its not the end of the world and it wont bankrupt me but im so annoyed as i was relying on them fans for fitting before a long journey.

Put it down to experience. A total waste of time trying anything further, IMHO.

Give him really rubbish feedback. File a complaint to e bay re goods not as described and how did you pay. If you want redress in any form and/or your money back and/or stitching this shyster up then nothing is a waste of time!

Give him really rubbish feedback........

He can´t, that´s his problem- if I understand the OP, he went outside of eBay, buying stuff that wasn´t listed by the seller, but that the seller said he had. No way to leave feedback AFAIK.

Barchettaman - I see what you mean. Parts on e bay but e mailed for others which weren't equal no comeback, as you correctly state. Grovel grovel!

Put it down to Lesson learned, don't buy "off the Bay" or you lose your buyer protection. Ebay do warn you of this in the terms and conditions.

I won an electric mirror for my car on Ebay for a good price £5, I emailed the seller regarding delivery as I wanted to be in when it came but he did not reply for 3 days. He eventually replied and gave me a load of excuses and lies about selling it for his mate who had a lock-up and he had gone on holiday and not left the key. I pointed out that he was the seller not his mate and that he should have made it available, I then got a torrent of abuse and expletives threatening that I would regret it if I left him negative feedback.
That was the end of the issue for me as you never know what kind of psychopath you are dealing with and I had to take into consideration that this lunatic had my address.
It was obvious to me that he did not want to let it go for what was just the starting price as I was the only bidder.

if you have the name and address of the guy you sent the money to can you not consider small claims system?

If paid through Paypal you can make a reclaim.

Honestly the way he suddenly let rip at me the way he did I was sure he was some kind of nutter, and for the sake of £5 I was not having anything more to do with psychopathic lowlife.

Doesn't seem worthwhile to buy small stuff on EBay.

It's true that there aren't enough breakers' yards these days but there are still some after all. They are the places for mirrors and such.

For bigger items, there's a sort of network of good honest Northern breakers on the net. Good for gearbox for commonplace motor in my case anyway.
