Car Wars & Road Wars - Jonwm {P}
I must say I love these programs so much i could watch them all day, shows some of the crap that constantly disregard all law and other road uses.

I have noticed though the difference in the 2 forces, Car wars which is Manchester based seems to have the flash Audi's and Suburu's and the thames Valley with the Vectra Sri's, I can see why though, in every episode of road wars there is some damage to the car, usually the offender stops and they feel the need to still drive into them, even last series on the motorway when 1 vectra rammed the car off the road and the police driver in the other unmarked Vectra drove into the back of them with his female collegue shouting STOP!!

Seems if the boys froms Thames Valley looked after thier cars a bit more they might get some nice Audi's to drive around in!

Anyone else notice this??

The one thing I noticed with tonights program was that all the police form Manchester have shaved heads and a few days stubble growth (don't know if it's a force requirement)

Oh, and the slap on the wrist that the offenders get at the end (3 police officers watching a stolen Yaris and they nick a lad and he gets a £40 fine............)

Chris.

Surprisingly, some of the best maintained & presented Police cars, in auction are Thames Valley, with Hants coming close second.

Good mitigation no doubt ! ;-)

I watched this with a neighbour, he commented on the shaved head thing, it's quite common in the "service" these days from what I've seen.

We both giggled at the "older" larger Officer "running" after the driver of the Yaris...

I have a mate who works as a technician in the vehicle maintenance depot for West Midlands Police. Some of the stories he tells of what police cars go through, and some of the mechanical and bodywork destruction he and his team have to sort out make my hair stand on end.

No wonder they're cheap at auction. They need to be!

Cheers

It was when they said that the lad had jumped over a 12 foot wall and then showed the "older" larger Officer "running" you knew there was no way he was going after the lad over the wall.....

It also makes you think when you see the guy who was banned crying and stating he wants to sort his life out, that he might actually mean it, but 2 months later he is done again!

Bit more of a deterrent than £40 for robbing a 95 year old's Yaris though!

Didnt see the programme last night but it must be very disheartening for the OB when only a £40 fine is handed out. If I was doing the job and I knew that that was all that was going to be handed out, I might not want to risk life and limb catching/confronting someone like that.
Car Wars & Road Wars - AlastairM
Probably don't pay the fine either. Although what else can be done! I think that is the more depressing aspect of this.

What the heck's going on in this country? We have 3 or 4 coppers, in expensive cars, staking out a Yaris that's been stolen. Then waiting around some more while the van arrives to take the scrote away. How much did all that cost? And then the scrote, who, remember, has stolen a vehicle, has no insurance or licence, and may have performed 'dangerous driving' in the process of getting the vehicle away, gets a fine of 40 quid?!?!
(Okay, in this instance I think the lad they caught may only have been the passenger, but I doubt things would have been much different if he'd been the actual driver)

Then you hear about kids (or their parents) getting an £80 fine because they've drawn a hopscotch grid or some flowers in chalk on the pavement ?!?!

What can be done about it? The scrote in question, languishing on the bonnet of someone else's car puffing on his ciggy while expressing his utter contempt and zero respect for the police and anybody else, clearly is, and always will be, a completely worthless example of a human. He is taking up space in the universe which could much more usefully be occupied by a block of wood.
You know that thing in abbatoirs where they fire a steel bolt through the forehead of a cow? That's what can be done about scrotes such as these. Just quickly dispatch them. It will save taxpayers no end of money and inconvenience that would otherwise be incurred over the next 40 years.

Tunacat, I couldn't agree more.
Car Wars & Road Wars - Lud
Humane killer solution is a tempting way to think when one is in a rage about something or someone, but problems arise when the scrote turns out to be less of a scrote than he looked, as can sometimes happen... Attempts to reduce the risk of unjust extreme punishment gave birth to criminal law, now a vast, tottering edifice so complex that all sorts of dodges are possible. Ask a lawyer.
Car Wars & Road Wars - tunacat
You are, of course, completely right, Lud.
But just maybe, the scrote might think twice before embarking on his miscreance if he knew such a policy was in place.

I cant agree more about the shaved head thing. Watching "Cops" on Men and Motors the British have a lot to learn from the American police. No arrogant looking shaved heads, body armour worn out of sight under their shirts, no mouth full of gum whilst they are talking and even the most hardened criminal always referred to as Sir.

The British police seem to look as though they are part time bouncers or West Ham supporters. The majority of them come over as very arrogant.
Car Wars & Road Wars - midlifecrisis
Oldbuffer...hilarious! I think you'll find the shaved heads are as result of the old 'uns going bald. The Yanks don't have the bulky armour we do and if I had gun stuck up my nostril, I'd be calling the officer 'Sir' as well!!!!!!
Car Wars & Road Wars - rogue-trooper
why do the US cops all seem to have moustaches?
Car Wars & Road Wars - Cribbage Crisis
I get so frustrated whenever I see these types of programmes and you see 4, 5 or even 6 police cars (and maybe a helicopter) involved in a chase, with at least 2 PC's in each car chasing some oike and his mates only to hear at the end that he was fined £40 or told to go and collect litter on a verge for half an hour.

These kids are wearing designer gear and can obviously afford more, why do the courts not give them a "proper" punishment that fits the cost of catching them? The Forces that confiscate the offenders car and crush it are much more satisfying.

Actually, this seems like a missed opportunity. Why not get the car MOT'd and stick it through an auction after having seized legal possesion. This way, especially with newer cars, they can get some real money back.
Crushing cars is harmful to the enviroment as it increases the overall need for more cars, so intelligent recycling is far more sensible. If you have a car thats worth 10 grand, its quite plainly utter stupidity to crush it on principle - cars dont commit crimes, people do..... so maybe crush the offenders? ;-)
Car Wars & Road Wars - hbosken
I think ayone who fails to stop should pay (in money) for all the resources used to catch him - whether its just a panda car or 10 pursuit cars and a helicopter. And if they can't pay in money, then they should be made to dig a 10 acre field by hand................
Car Wars & Road Wars - Armitage Shanks {p}
Good idea hbo. I notice that shops say that they will take steps to recover their costs when prosecuting shoplifters (notice on the entrance door usually). Good idea for chav/scrotes involved in car crime. Problem would be enforcing a costs order I guess.
