Just wondering if there is something in the air today - same piece of road, same exact spot and same stupidity.
Been overtaken twice on the same blind bend while doing the 30 limit, once by an Impreza with a guy driving it and once by a Smart Forfour driven by a woman - I did wonder if they were a couple as both stuck fingers up as they went by as they cut me up.
The guy in the Impreza only moments earlier did get the squeeze put on him by a lorry which had right of way and didnt slow down when he took a chance - must have been inches to spare - maybe he was annoyed.

i had a waggon pull out in front of me on an A road this morning i managed to stop then he gesticulated for me to back up,i did but we had a major road block as i took my time big time,funny how arrogent juggernought drivers trucks are never signwritten and always painted white isnt it
not a good start at 8.48 am
after that it was just the usual doylans that shut their eyes and go for gaps that arent actually there.

I mentioned this 'same stupidity' phenomenon in an old thread.
Almost every day on my daily commute I see the usual variety of driving stunts. The bad overtake to be 23rd in the convoy instead of 24th. Right turns from LH lane at roundabouts etc.
Normally I just shrug my shoulders and forget it.
Occasionally though, I get a day when every numpty seems to do the same thing.
This morning I witnessed three cases where vehicles overtook parked cars causing oncoming traffic to brake heavily.
Last time it was drivers turning out of side roads without stopping.
Does anyone else notice the same thing or do I need psychiatric help?

You're right Kevin, I was bimbling along to work this morning, sort of car 8 in a line of slow movers behind a School Bus when car 4, a ludicrously underpowered slug coloured Pug 106 overtook everything in front of it, how he made it past escapes me, how nothing came around the bend towards it i'll never know, that's pretty normal.

There is a roundabout here in Basingstoke, Brighton Hill for those that know it, where this has been a problem for years. The council recently spent well over 6 figures on 'improvements' consisting of new kerb profiles and repainting the road markings.

The latest trend around here is to pull out from a side road (having spent what I suppose is a statutory minimum time there) in front of me (making sharpish progress in what is a fast looking car) and then instead of accelerating quickly to the NSL the driver then mimics a myopic stunned slug why oh why ?

That happens everywhere. Lots of people do it. Makes you wish you had twin .50 calibre machine guns mounted on yr bonnet.

Years ago, while I was still quite a "Press On" driver (BMW 3.0) my 3 children used to tell me overtake - I'd say no and they would argue. I would say "Tell me when to overtake" and when they did I would stay put and start counting slowly to 10 and tell them that if anything came the other way while I was counting then we were were all dead. They were too young to have much judgement but we all 'died' several times! One of them is a good driver now and the other 2 aren't for various reasons but if if even one of them learned something I think it was useful!

Yep. M4 today. In lane 2, overtaking a people carrier doing maybe 10 miles an hour less than me. Just as I get alongside, people carrier sticks on rh indicator and starts to move out immediately. Blast on horn and a bit of sudden avoidance. People carrier driver gesticulates furiously, indicating that I should have moved out to let him in. Ah, I get it, indicating gives you the right to manoever. Silly me!

Apropos the thread title, some people are just not psychologically compatible with driving. In this day and age when the younger generation take violence as being normal, the driving test should include a psychological compatibility test.

I wonder if that "signal and go" is something they are drinking, might explain the white froth coming out of some driver mouths, oh not that's their white case mobile they're trying to extract from between their teeth !
Agree with OP, had lunch with a mate today, I was undertaken by some zig-zagging Vectra driver doing around 60mph in a 40mph zone short dual carriageway, then passed by a Porsche who was doing about 120mph on another dual carriageway, saw a driver leaving a Little Chef car park whilst talking on their mobile whilst they were trying to exit the car park and merge into the 70mph dual carriageway without indicating, and my mate had been tailgated by some Range Rover driver who seemed to think it ok to drive about 6" from his rear bumper mile after mile, little did the RR driver know who they were dealing with !

Going to work the other morning. Route takes me up a good B road with a reasonable gradient (so drivers normally travel at NSL in opposite direction.) Appalled to see a suicide jockey emerging from behind the artic he was sitting behind towards what, to him, is a bad bend.
He's now committed to the overtake but travelling towards me at a rate of knots, completely on my side of the road. Now idiot-boy hasn't held back to see if there's anything in front of the artic he was about to overtake, so he now finds himself on my side of the road with three more cars to get around!! Definite brown trouser moment for him (and a little hairy for me, too!) Thankfully the three other drivers and me aren't quite ready to meet our makers and slow down, each giving him flashes, blasts of our horns and, I'm quite sure, no need to try too hard to lip read about his nocturnal activities on his own...
I think he got the message
