I saw this the other night on FiveUS. Looks like Fiat are having trouble getting delivery drivers, they have to pay more!

I saw this recently on UK TV. Can't remember which channel.
Bad form though; the driver should WEAR his cap when face to face with passengers, not remove it!

He's found his true vocation at last! ;-)

Sad.
Within months of retiring as arguably the most successful ever F1 driver, he is reduced to flogging white vans. Surely Fiat could have used his profile a little better??
Although I did snigger when I saw the ad.
|
Don't see whats wrong with it myself. Commercial vehicles are a big part of Fiat, especially on the continent, where I suspect the ad was made for.
|
When he was in F1 he drove like a White Van Man ~ just ask Damon Hill.

I've seen the ad. It's a red van though. Not a bad ad, low key. Schumacher's famous good humour displayed to advantage as he makes a fair, slightly frantic fist of seeming to enjoy working with the 'van that works' if I remember the Italian slogan correctly. Can't think what people are complaining about. D'you think they underpaid him or something?

There's more to these ads than meets the eye, they kind of follow on the some Shell and Fiat ones he did a while ago.

Doubt it. Though I don't quite understand why these mult-millionaires feel the need for another million doing crappy ads. Another being Jayne Fonda at 70 advertising a rip-off face cream. Did Ted Turner leave her a bit short of readies? Does Schumi have any special expertise in vans?
May understand their motivation better when I've made my own first billion.

It's probably nothing to do with the money but is motivated by his ego. Now he's not in F1, tv adverts are one way for him to be seen by the general public.

.. probably nothing to do with the money but is motivated by his ego ..
more likely to do with his continuing contract with fiat/ferrari.

Surely everyone knows that the white (preferably builders) van is THE fastest form of automotive transport yet known on automotive history. So Shumacher is not so out of place here !
|
Apart from the financial links between Fiat/Ferrari and M Schumacher (he is still some sort of advisor to them isn't he), I bet one reason he did that advert was to show he does have a sense of humour after all.
German's all too often get branded as not have a sense of humour but all the ones I have known have had one - one in particular had a very dry sense of humour (monty python style) ;-)
|
Yup, it's probably a contractual hangover, Fiat being the parent company of Ferrari.
I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the German reputation for humourlessness is not only completely unfounded, but comes from the accent. It's such a harsh, dour sounding dialect, but I've had some great times in Germany and have found the Germans to be among the warmest and most enjoyable people to socialise with of anywhere that I've been.
The Finns wrongly are tarred with the same brush, yet they're as amusing as the Germans, but with 10x the alcohol content!! :-)
Hoping tongue in cheek stereotypes of entire nations don't offend anyone!
Cheers
