Hi,
Am new to the forum and have just got a Y reg Peugeot 306. Was just wondering if anyone knows how to unblock the wiper jets as they don't seem t work.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there ib141. Firstly, when you press the wipers to clear the screen, can you hear the motor running from the washer bottle ? If so use a fine needle down the hole in each jet while some-one operates the jets from inside the car. This should clear it. Welcome to this great forum, there is allsorts of usefull info on here, cheers, Graham.

If unable to find a narrow enough needle, snip a wire from a wire brush.

Sometimes there is a bit of debris or jelly like substance that will move back to clog the jet again after a few days. After poking the jets out (always use a bit from a wire brush held in pliers) I then have a spare bit of washer tubing that I connect to the pipework from the pump (with a joiner) and hold it against the outside of the jet while operating the motor. This does a reverse flush that will often keep them clear for years.
The pickup filter in the washer bottle often has obstructions that lessens the power. Of course on some cars with a washer bottle under the wing it is a pig to get to.

A good opportunity to make sure the jets are pointing at the screen properly as well. When you put the pin in the nozzle, you can adjust the aim of the nozzle by moving the pin around. Check after you unblock that you haven't inadvertently done this anyway.

replace them with the mist style jets from a citroen xsara there far more effective than the woeful 306 items and cost about £5 from citroen and there a direct fit replacement

mist jets were one of the best things i bought for my car!!! i love them - never need adjusting

Many thanks for the info. Got 1 nozzle working with the needle idea but cant get anything from the others. may just replace them with the Xsara one if they are that much better. Again thanks for the warm welcome. Have got a couple of things wrong with the 306 so will be on alot. Air con not working and have got a hairline crack in the sump!! dodgy dealers.

I made the mistake of giving this tip (using a needle) to Mrs S, only to find some months later the nozzle blocked again but this time with a broken point of a needle, which proved impossible to dislodge ( She denied all knowledge of course)

Aircon not working.
Most likely a failed pipe along the front, rusted out around one of the P clips, loses the gas & hence the aircon wont work, normal for a 306.

Another pug problem..sorry!

Do a Forum search on 306 Aircon - its all there with rough costs as well. :-(

I have just discovered the ideal tool for unblocking and adjusting nozzel's - one of those tooth scrapers - like a spike on handle the hygenist uses at dentists - get them from boots for a few quid - I always found pins and needles bent.
