I have just bought a R reg 2.1 diesel. To say I am pleased with it is an understatement. So much better than the older 1.9 units.
The car is in mint condition with the exception of the chrome inserts on the doors and on rear bumper, which are quite unsightly.
Can these be replaced on their own or will I need the whole trim?

Is it an "Exclusive" spec?
If so, I know that the rear bumper chrome insert is snapped into place. (It came off 2nd best against a post!). The side chrome I don't know, sorry.
Whether the trim is available as a spare I don't know, mine was undamaged and just snapped back into place.

They discolour they all do even if you could find some on ebay they would only last one winter.

but I can't find the post which was a long explanation of how to replace the chrome trim - it was a few years ago. I do remember that someone posted that you can buy rolls of chrome "tape" in various widths which do the job - maybe from Halfords?.

I remember doing the side trims on my old 1993 Xantia. I enquired about replacements and they could only do the whole plastic trim. In the end I stuck some silver side striping tape over it and the effcet wasn't at all bad. 'Chrome' tape would be even better.

I seem to remember on frenchcarforum, aldi selling the chrome effect. Its simply just cut to size and stick on the trim.
Mine have water ingress on some, not bothered, car looks great after a wash and wax... now where?s summer!

I know an XM ownner who stocks the trims for the XM (straight bits only) and possibily the Xantia.
I'll make enquires and revert.
