Hi,
Bought a new car from a dealer in London however i'm in Newcastle. They are struggling to get it delivered to me and have asked if i could pick it up. How much does it normally cost to deliver a car and what should i ask for to collect it.
thanks

which newcastle are you in? not that it makes any difference but Id certainly demand delivery if that was part of the deal, failing that I would request for some form of compensation for collecting due to loss of days wages, travel expenses, inconvenience etc etc.
Autocarriers are very good at what they do though and may be worth a call if you get really stuck :D

Actual cost would be dependent on it being transporter, or trade plated & driven & if they've a return run available. You'd be surprised how cheap a transporter load would be, but guess you don't want to wait, 'till there's more going your way.
So £1 - £2/mile would cover it.
& if I were you, I'd make sure you familiarize yourself with all the bits n pieces, before the journey !

I can't get a flight down in the morning for £65 so i was think for about £200.
|
It's 310 miles on Autoroute. Do you think £200 is too much to ask for?
|
What's the power to weight ratio? I can make myself available; I'm just that sort of guy. Anything to help anyone. 8^)

£200 imo is not expensive.
If they quibble tell them to arrange delivery at their cost. It would cost them more to send 1 of their employees with it if it included his food, return travel, ot and accomodation if needed.
It was part of the deal so stick to your guns.

£300 transported; £150 driven.

Frankly I would rather pick it up with zero mileage so if they covered my costs and gave me a full tank for the return I would be happy.

A great opportunity to run the car in yourself properly by doing a lot of it on one chunk. Stay on the A roads, don't keep to a steady speed, use the rev range without labouring the engine and you'll a great time getting to know your car on the way home.

Queried the time taken to get my last new car to my local dealer-the car that I wanted was at another branch on the other side of the country and was told that they don't use delivery drivers any longer. It had 9 ml. on the clock when I got it.
