But how do some vehicles seem to be totally out of control and others seemingly braking and coming to stop normally??? Winter tyres maybe???

That'll be the Lefortovo Tunnel. In the link below is an explanation of why it was so hazardous.

I don't buy this ice explanation at all-just because someone from the internet told DD it was icy-looks like bad driving to me-too fast and too dumb, the vast majority of drivers seem to be having no problem at all. And where's the evidence it was all taken in 'one day'?

The ice is no doubt a factor in some of the crashes but in the video the clear cause of most of them is dreadfully unsafe driving (possibly a result of being drunk). Just look at the first crash as a perfect example.

The file doesn't open on my puter, but I think I know the clip in question. Seen it on youtube. I don't think it has anything to do with ice, it is just drunk driving (apparently a bit of a problem in Russia), and it is a collection of clips not a continuous sequence of events.
The one which surprised me was the lorry that comes from the tunnel next door through some sort of weak spot in the wall.

A fair few of those crashes look to be general poor driving & speeding induced to me.
